Job Description

Under general supervision performs all type of drafting assignments including a limited amount of original design, works with and assists engineers and designers on more advanced problems, working from oral or written instructions, marked prints, sketches and other source documents.  Performs routine calculations and details materials and equipment to be incorporated in the work.  May gather information and data for the job, takes and records field measurements.  Instructs, guides and checks the work of drafters in lower classifications.

Required Skills

Experience preparing electrical schematics, block diagrams, and panel layouts from engineering sketches and concepts.  The ability to read and create electrical and mechanical drawings used in the electric utility industry is required.  We will also consider candidates with strong HVAC or mechanical solid modeling design background.    

High degree of proficiency using AutoCAD in a plant or process design environment is required.  Autodesk Electrical, Raster Design, MS Excel, MS Outlook skill is desirable.   

Experience working directly with on-site plant electricians or electrical engineers as well as any other plant personnel in a plant setting  is desired.  Electric utility industry experience or related background is advantageous.

Required Experience

The candidate must have an Associates Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Technology with 5 or more years experience in the drafting of electrical control and wiring diagrams, equipment layouts preferably related to generation facilities. Must be able to interpret as-built field marked prints and incorporate information onto existing plant documents. Experience in the field verification of all aspects of electrical installations is required. Good communication and organizational skills, proficiency in AutoCAD, Raster Design, Microsoft Office software and electronic document management systems are preferred.
